The 5th grade physical education curriculum is designed to focus on areas of health related physical fitness: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility. Students will be exposed to a variety of activities that will encourage growth in these areas. With a variety of activities offered, our hope is for students to find an activity that they love to participate in for life- long fitness and enjoyment. Students will also participate in an activity based health unit each quarter.
GRADINGStudents will be graded on the A, B, C, D, and F
grading scale as set forth by the school district. Student's grades will be based on: Personal and social responsibility 1. Dressing appropriately 2. Following directions 3. Meeting daily activity objectives Assessments 1. Written/ Cognitive Quizzes and/or Homework 2. In-class assignments 3. Skill/ performance based assessments |
PHYSICAL EDUCATION DRESS REQUIREMENTS1. Students must wear clean tennis shoes that are appropriate for physical activity. All shoes must be traditionally tied and fastened to the student's feet.
2. All jewelry must be removed prior to coming to class a. Exceptions will be made for medical bracelets or medical necklaces b. New piercings must be covered by band- aids or athletic tape over the front and back side of the ear. Earrings must be removed 6 weeks from the date of piercing. Failure to comply with the dress requirement will result in the student's loss of his/her "Personal and Social Responsibility" points for the day as well as one of the following actions: 1. The student will sit out of class activity for that day. 2. An email or call to parent will be made. 3. The student will be issued a detention. |
